The Upanishads

The crown of Vedic wisdom — dialogues between teachers and students probing the nature of the Self. The Isha, Kena, Katha, Mundaka, and Chandogya Upanishads are our core curriculum. The story of Nachiketa confronting Death in the Katha Upanishad, demanding to know what survives dying, is the founding narrative of the order’s spirit: ask the ultimate question and accept no evasion.

The Bhagavad Gita

Krishna’s teaching to Arjuna on the battlefield — the supreme text of engaged spirituality. Its message: act fully in the world while inwardly free of it. For householders who cannot retreat to caves, the Gita is the charter: “You have a right to your actions, but never to their fruits.”

Advaita Classics

Shankara’s commentaries systematized non-duality with diamond clarity; the Vivekachudamani (Crest-Jewel of Discrimination) remains the sharpest manual of discernment between the real and the unreal. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali map the inward journey with scientific precision. The Ashtavakra Gita delivers the teaching with shocking directness — freedom is immediate for the one who truly hears.

Living Voices

Ramana Maharshi’s silent teaching of self-inquiry, Nisargadatta Maharaj’s I Am That, and the continuing lineage of teachers who point not to themselves but to the listener’s own being. We study the dead sages through books and the living teaching through practice — the text is the finger, never the moon.
