Community Life
The community of Eternal Reality gathers in satsang — literally, “association with truth.” Our circles are quiet by the standards of most religious gatherings: extended silence, a reading, unhurried conversation, and the particular intimacy that forms between people who have sat together in stillness.
We keep the traditional hospitality of the ashram adapted to modern life. Newcomers are welcomed without interrogation about belief; the only question that matters is whether you are willing to practice. Teachers in this order point away from themselves — beware any guide who gathers followers rather than scattering them toward their own direct knowing.
Community service flows from the teaching of non-separation rather than from duty. Feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, and caring for the dying are understood as serving the Self in all forms. Our circles also maintain a discipline of study together, working slowly through one text at a time, because truth contemplated in company goes deeper than truth contemplated alone.
Come sit with us. Bring your questions; leave them at the door or bring them in — the silence will know what to do with them.
