The Qur’an
The final revelation, the order’s supreme authority and daily companion. We give special attention to the passages concerning Isa and Maryam — above all Surah Maryam (chapter 19), the tender narrative of the annunciation, the birth, and the infant Isa’s defense of his mother; and Surah Al-Imran (chapter 3), with its account of Maryam’s dedication and Isa’s miracles. The order reads the Qur’an in translation for understanding and in Arabic for worship, always with reverence for its inimitability.
The Life of the Messenger
The sira (biography) of Muhammad and the hadith collections are studied for character and guidance — his mercy to the weak, his courage under persecution, his forgiveness of his enemies at the conquest of Mecca. We receive these as the community’s memory of what faithfulness looks like in a human life.
Wisdom of the Tradition
The order draws on fourteen centuries of Islamic scholarship, spirituality, and art: the theologians who defended tawhid with philosophical rigor, the Sufi masters who mapped the inward journey (read with discernment, always measured against the Qur’an), the jurists who built a civilization of law, and the poets — Rumi, Hafiz, and others — who sang the love of God in verses that still stop the breath.
Read the Qur’an as if it were revealed for you, today, in your circumstance — because in a real sense, it was.
