Practices

Daily

  • Salat: The five daily prayers — dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset, night — each a standing before God in the ancient pattern: recitation, bowing, prostration, sitting. The order teaches salat as the day’s architecture; everything else is built around these five pillars of time.
  • Dhikr: Remembrance — SubhanAllah (Glory be to God), Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), Allahu Akbar (God is Greatest) — on the tongue, in the heart, 33 times each after prayer and throughout the day. The polish of the heart, the tradition calls it.
  • Qur’an recitation: A portion daily, however small. Even a single verse pondered outweighs chapters rushed.

Weekly & Annual

  • Jumu’ah: The Friday congregational prayer and sermon — the week’s gathering point, where the community hears guidance and stands shoulder to shoulder.
  • Fasting: Ramadan’s dawn-to-dusk fast, the annual training in self-mastery and solidarity with the hungry; plus the recommended voluntary fasts for those able.
  • Sadaqah and Zakat: The obligatory alms (zakat) calculated yearly, and voluntary charity (sadaqah) given constantly — see the order’s giving page.

Character as Practice

  • Truthfulness (sidq): The Messenger said truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness to Paradise. The order practices exact honesty as worship.
  • Mercy in action: Visiting the sick, feeding the hungry, sheltering the traveler — the works the Qur’an names as the proof of faith.
  • Reflection on Isa and Maryam: Regular contemplation of their stories — his mercy, her trust — as the order’s distinctive devotion.
