The Path of Conscious Surrender

Conscious Submission is the order of those who have heard, in the depths of conscience, the call to surrender — not blindly, but consciously: with eyes open, mind engaged, and heart willing. Our tradition is the Islamic path, the way of islam as the word itself means — wholeness through willing submission to the One God.

Within the Assembly, this order gathers around a particular focus given by its own discernment: Isa and Maryam — Jesus and Mary, peace upon them both. The Qur’an honors Isa as the Messiah, the Word from God, and a sign to the worlds; it honors Maryam above all women, with an entire chapter bearing her name. In Isa we contemplate the Word made servant — healing the blind, raising the dead, speaking wisdom from the cradle; in Maryam we contemplate pure receptivity to the Divine, the human “yes” through which mercy entered history. Muhammad, peace and blessings upon him, is honored among us as the Messenger — the faithful conveyor of the revelation — while our devotional gaze rests, by this order’s calling, on Isa and Maryam.

What Makes This Path Distinct

Conscious Submission pairs the Islamic emphasis on divine unity and moral clarity with a contemplative tenderness. We are rigorous about the Oneness of God and gentle about everything else. The order’s worship is structured and beautiful — the rhythm of daily prayer, the discipline of fasting, the mathematics of charity — and its spirit is mercy: Allah is nearer to you than your jugular vein, and His mercy outruns His wrath.

We practice our faith without apology and without compulsion. There is no compulsion in religion — the order holds this Qur’anic principle as civic law within the Assembly, protecting every order’s conscience including our own.

Who This Order Is For

For Muslims seeking a community of the Assembly’s civic vision; for seekers drawn to the figure of Isa and the purity of Maryam; for anyone who wants a faith of clear structure and deep mercy. You do not need to be Muslim to learn here — the order teaches openly. You need only reverence: for God, for the prophets, and for the conscience of every person you meet.

And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them refuge on a high ground, a place of rest and flowing springs.
