Give as Sadaqah

The Islamic tradition knows two great channels of giving, and Conscious Submission practices both. Zakat — the obligatory alms, calculated yearly at a fortieth of qualifying wealth — is a pillar of the faith, the purification of property and the right of the poor upon the rich. Sadaqah — voluntary charity — is its free-flowing sister: every act of kindness, the tradition says, is sadaqah, from a coin in the beggar’s hand to a smile given sincerely.

The Qur’an promises that charity given sincerely is like a seed growing seven ears, each ear a hundred grains — and the order has watched this mathematics of mercy prove true across centuries. Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire; it shades the giver on the Day when there is no shade but God’s.

The order’s giving page carries the full teaching, the free workbook of sadaqah practices, and the way to give financially — including the order’s giving product in the shop. Give in secret where you can (it is purer), give openly where it encourages others, and give always as worship of the Most Merciful.

The upper hand is better than the lower hand — the giving hand better than the receiving. Be the upper hand.
