Gatherings & Sacred Days
Sovereign Discipline keeps a calendar of remembrance and celebration, anchored in the lives of the Gurus and the rhythm of the community.
The great Gurpurs — anniversaries of the Gurus’ births and passings — are observed with Akhand Path (continuous reading of the entire Guru Granth Sahib over 48 hours), kirtan, and special langars. Vaisakhi in April is the crown of the year: the anniversary of the Khalsa’s founding in 1699, celebrated with processions (nagar kirtan), martial arts displays (gatka), and initiations (Amrit Sanchar) for those ready to take the vows.
Weekly diwans (congregational gatherings, often Sundays) keep the sangat knit together. Full dates for every observance are at the Sovereign Discipline calendar. Visitors are welcome at all public gatherings — cover your head, remove your shoes, and prepare to be fed.
